Bloomberg Puts Moniepoint in Focus as African Startups Target Regional Markets
A Bloomberg Next Africa report examines 25 startups across the continent and features Moniepoint co-founder Felix Ike on building a major African fintech platform.

African startups are developing solutions across finance, transport, healthcare and other sectors, even as founders continue to navigate funding constraints and complex operating environments, according to a Bloomberg Television report on the continent’s startup landscape.
The Bloomberg Next Africa programme presents its 2026 African startups to watch list, featuring companies from markets including Egypt and Mauritius. The report also includes a conversation with Moniepoint co-founder and chief technology officer Felix Ike about building one of Africa’s leading fintech platforms.
The programme examines the opportunities and challenges facing investors and founders as businesses seek to scale across markets with different regulatory systems, infrastructure and customer needs.
For fintech companies such as Moniepoint, the ability to build reliable payment and financial services infrastructure is central to serving businesses and consumers. The wider startup ecosystem is also looking to solve practical problems in areas such as healthcare access, logistics, food systems and digital services.
Bloomberg’s feature provides a snapshot of companies attracting attention from investors and analysts. Inclusion in a watch list is not a guarantee of future performance or investment success; startups must still demonstrate sustainable business models, sound governance and the ability to expand responsibly.
The report highlights the breadth of entrepreneurial activity across Africa and the importance of capital, technology and market access in turning promising ideas into scalable businesses.
