Editorial Policy
FORBES.NG's standards for accuracy, verification, fairness, independence, conflicts of interest, AI use and labelling of news, opinion and sponsored content.
Last updated 20 October 2026
This policy sets out how the FORBES.NG newsroom reports, verifies and presents journalism. It applies to everyone who writes or edits for us, including contributors.
Accuracy and verification
We aim to get facts right before we publish. Figures, quotes, names, titles and claims are checked against primary documents, official filings or reliable sources wherever possible. When something cannot be independently confirmed, we say so or leave it out.
Sources
We identify sources by name whenever we can. Anonymity is granted only when a source faces a real risk and the information is important to the public; an editor must know the source's identity. We do not pay for information.
Fairness
People and organisations that are the subject of significant criticism are given a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication, and their response is reflected fairly.
Independence and conflicts of interest
Editorial decisions are made by editors, not by advertisers, sponsors, investors or the subjects of our coverage. Staff and contributors must disclose financial or personal interests connected to a story and step away from coverage where a conflict exists. Gifts or payments intended to influence coverage are refused.
Use of AI tools
Our newsroom may use software, including AI tools, to assist with tasks such as transcription, summarising documents, translation, drafting or editing. A person is responsible for every story we publish. AI tools are not treated as sources, and facts produced with their help are verified before publication.
Types of content
- News: factual reporting on events and developments.
- Analysis: reporting that explains context and significance, grounded in evidence.
- Opinion: the views of the named author, clearly labelled, not the position of FORBES.NG.
- Sponsored and partner content: paid for by a third party and labelled as such. It is not produced by our newsroom's reporters as independent journalism.
- Press releases: announcements from organisations are not published as news without independent editorial judgement and reporting.
Republished and partner material
Where a story draws on reporting from another publication or partner, we credit the source.
Lists and rankings
